The jury for the 2008 edition included Corinne Charpentier, Director of Fri-Art, Centre for Contemporary Art, Fribourg; Marco Costantini, lecturer at the University of Lausanne and independent curator; Ariane Epars, artist, Cully; Federica Martini, lecturer at the University of Turin and independent curator, Lausanne; and Catherine Quéloz, professor and co-coordinator of the CCC Studies Program at the Geneva University of Art and Design.

The jury awarded the 2008 Jury Prize to Jean Crotti.

Anne-Julie Raccoursier. Jury Prize 2007

A room was dedicated to the exhibition of Anne-Julie Raccoursier (*1974), winner of the 2007 Jury Prize. The artist is known for her documentary-style videos, remarkably constructed both in terms of sound and image, offering a unique perspective on the realities that surround us—whether social, urban, or architectural.

This is evident in Grace-Notes (2005), a magnificent and unusual work exploring the paradoxes of the “production” of national identity, or Effaroucheur (2005)—named after the acoustic device used to scare birds away from airports—which depicts empty structures in the Alpine region, with the camera’s slow movement creating an eerie ghost town atmosphere, as if a Hitchcockian drama were unfolding behind closed facades.

Noodling (2006), the video awarded by the Jury of Accrochage [Vaud 2007], delves into the aspirations and frustrations generated by the desire to identify with the star system and its consequences in terms of identity.

For her Lausanne exhibition, Anne-Julie Raccoursier presented an exclusive new video installation, unveiled for the first time at the Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition was accompanied by the first monograph dedicated to the artist.
